Police Vow to Unravel Murder of Adedibu's Loyalist

The Oyo State Police Command yesterday decalred that there is no going back in the investigation into the murder of one Mrs Olabisi Ojetunde, a loyalist of the late Ibadan strong man, Chief Lamidi Adedibu.

The Oyo State Police Command yesterday decalred that there is no going back in the investigation into the murder of one Mrs Olabisi Ojetunde, a loyalist of the late Ibadan strong man, Chief Lamidi Adedibu.

Police command spokesperson, Olabisi Okuwobi, told newsmen on telephone yesterday that the family of the slain Adedibu loyalist cannot dictate to the command on the case.

Some political miscreants loyal to a prominent political office holder in the state about a fortnight ago at the Molete residence of the late Ibadan political warlord had attacked Ojetunde and later abandoned her under the Molete bridge from where she was rescued and later died at a private hospital three days.

Following her death, the police, Okuwobi hinted, received petitions, which fingered four politicians as her possible assailants.

She hinted that the four politicians whose name she could not mention were promptly arrested and interrogated, adding that they were released on police bail pending further investigations into the matter.
The family head of the slain woman, Chief Olusola Ojetunde, had, while receiving the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Taofeek Arapaja, on a condolence visit, expressed the family's fate on the murder of their member and urged both the police and the state government not to arrest or prosecute anybody in respect of the murder.

Okuwobi had dismissed the family's position, insisting that the police had a duty to protect lives and property in the society while prosecuting commission of any crime to serve as deterrent to other criminals.

'Nobody to my knowledge has told the police to hands-off any case, especially on this particular one.
As far as we know, a crime had been committed while it is our duty to take up investigation of the case.'I want to assure that anybody that is connected remotely with the murder would be charged to the court. It will be a case of the state against the offenders.

We will take the case to the court and discharge the duty placed on us," she assured. She said her command would do a thorough investigation to ensure that the innocent is not punished.
