Tragedy struck in Olowora Isheri in Lagos State in the early hours of Sunday when a 60-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his brother in-law after an argument
The deceased, identified as James Akpan, a resident of 25, Alhaji Abiola Street, Olowora Isheri, was at about 10.00 a.m. on Sunday beaten to death allegedly by Kingsley Udoh, 30.
Udo has been arrested by the police and the remains of Akpan deposited at the public mortuary. Nigerian Tribune ga-thered that trouble started late on Saturday night when an argument ensued between Udo and Akpan after the latter accused the former of abandoning his wife, who had just given birth.
It was learnt that the wife is a younger sister to the late Akpan and that the deceased had allegedly scolded Udo for abandoning the woman and their new born baby in the village.
The continuous tirade from the late Akpan repor-tedly irked Udo, leading him to allegedly pounce on Akpan and beat him to death before neighbours could intervene.
The Police Public Rela-tions Officer in the state, Frank Mba, confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune and said that investigations into the matter were on.
