‘Eagles Ready For War' - Odiah

Super Eagles defender, Chidi Odiah, says the team are ready for war against any team that will be drawn with Nigeria in today's 2010 World Cup draws, holding in Zurich, Switzerland.

Super Eagles defender, Chidi Odiah, says the team are ready for war against any team that will be drawn with Nigeria in today's 2010 World Cup draws, holding in Zurich, Switzerland.

Odiah, who plies his trade in CSK Moscow FC, Russia, said the Eagles know what is at stake in the final round of the qualifying series, hence the resolve to be ruthless with opponents in their group. He noted that all the 19 African countries that qualified for the last stage of the World Cup qualifiers are good, but that the Eagles are ready to give their opponents a run for their money when the qualifiers kick off again next year.

'We are ever ready for any country that will be drawn with us. We know what Nigerians expect from us and it will be bad if we underrate our opponents. We cannot afford to miss the next World Cup, coming up for the first time, in Africa. So, our aim is to secure the 2010 World Cup ticket at all costs,' he said.

Odiah also disclosed the reason behind the influx of Nigerian players to Russia to play professional football. He added that the Russian league is better packaged now than in the past. The former Julius Berger player said there is a lot of money in the league, which attracts players from different parts of the world.

'This is to tell you that not only Nigerian players want to play in the league, other players from different parts of the world are also interested in coming to Russian to ply their trade,' he said.
