An ex-convict, Mohammed Lasisi Ajayi, who was recently released from prison has been sentenced to another two years imprisonment for stealing in a mosque.
An ex-convict, Mohammed Lasisi Ajayi, who was recently released from prison has been sentenced to another two years imprisonment for stealing in a mosque.
Mohammed was caught after he stole a laptop computer belonging to Zakariya Adaramola at the Abdul-Azeez Mosque, Mushin Avenue, Idimu, Lagos.
P.M.News gathered that the victim went to the mosque to pray and left his laptop in a corner in the mosque.
The convict, it was learnt, stole the laptop and ran away but he he was caught after the owner raised an alarm that his laptop was missing.
He was handed over to the police at Idimu who charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate's Court for theft.
The investigating police officer told the court that the convict confessed stealing the laptop.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and the prosecutor, Kunle Shonibare, reminded the court that the accused had earlier been sentenced to jail by the court for stealing a handset.
He called for a stiffer penalty to serve as a detterent to others.
The magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Ajibade, described the accused as a habitual criminal. She found him guilty as charged and sentenced him to two years imprisonment.
