A truck driver, Mr. Afeez Mustapha, is currently standing trial at the Surulere Chief Magistate's Court, on a three-count charge of driving dangerously on a public expressway.
A truck driver, Mr. Afeez Mustapha, is currently standing trial at the Surulere Chief Magistate's Court, on a three-count charge of driving dangerously on a public expressway.
He was alleged to be driving with an expired hackney permit and damaging a trailer with registration number NT 918 EKY, belonging to Buildwell Plant and Equipment Limited.
The police prosecutor alleged that the accused committed the the offences on 19 August, 2008, along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway when he drove a truck with registration number XA 430 TRE. The offences are punishable under Sections 28(1), 29(1) of the RTA, Cap.124, Vol. 6, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 1994.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum by Chief Magistrate Y.O. Aje-Afunwa. The case has been adjourned till Wednesday, 22 October, 2008, for further hearing.
