Rivers A-G, Finance Commissioner surrender to EFCC


Following the threat by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commisssion(EFCC) Monday to declare them wanted, Accountant-General of Rivers State, Mr. Ben Goodlife and the Commissioner for Finance in the state, Mr Osinachukwu Ideozu yesterday, submitted themselves to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for interrogation.

Following the threat by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commisssion(EFCC) Monday to declare them wanted, Accountant-General of Rivers State, Mr. Ben Goodlife and the Commissioner for Finance in the state, Mr Osinachukwu Ideozu yesterday, submitted themselves to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for interrogation.

The officials failed to show up for questioning on Monday, inspite of assurances by the Rivers State Government in a letter to the Commission assured that they would be available, prompting the EFCC threat to declare them wanted.

The duo, as gathered from a source close to on-going inquest into allegations of fraud against some top government officials in the State, showed up at 3pm, and was yet to leave the Commission, as at 7pm, yesterday night.

The Commission's Head of Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Babafemi, who confirmed the development, had said on Monday that the Chairman, Mrs Farida Waziri ordered that Ideozu and two other officials be declared wanted, having failed to show up for questioning.

It was gathered that, the EFCC requires the attention of the Rivers State officials to enable it conclude on-going investigations into allegations of violation of relevant section of the EFCC Act.
