The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has ordered the immediate transfer of Mrs.Jami Akuku, the Headmistress and teacher of State Primary, School IV, Orogbum, Port Harcourt, to a village school as punishment for allowing the school premises to be overgrown with weeds and negligence.

The teacher was late to handle her class at the time the governor visited.
Amaechi, who paid an unscheduled visit to the school as part of his on-the-spot assessment of schools in the state capital, was miffed to find that a premises meant for one primary school accommodated five primary schools and a Junior Secondary School.
He, therefore, ordered the immediate relocation of the Junior Secondary operating from D-Line Area of Port Harcourt.
Governor Amaechi said his vision is to ensure that students and pupils study under an environment conducive for learning.
He expressed displeasure over the deplorable condition of most schools in the state, and promised to change the scenario.
Governor Amaechi explained that the level of decay of infrastructure in the schools visited was well above what he had imagined, pointing out that government would take actions on the rationalization of primary and secondary schools in the state after the completion of the primary and secondary school re-building projects.
The governor had earlier inspected the level of work on the new state Health Centre projects at Moore House Street, and Okija streets, and the Niger Hospital project at Emenike Street all in Diobu, Port Harcourt.
He also inspected the extent of work on the 100 megawatts expansion work on the Trans-Amadi gas turbine project in Port Harcourt, and the new Rainbow town Housing Estate project.
