Fayose rejects PDP elders' forum

The newly constituted Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Advisory Committee in Ekiti State has been rejected by ex-governor Ayo Fayose as he said the formation of the committee did not conform with the recommendations of the party reconciliatory committee.

The newly constituted Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Advisory Committee in Ekiti State has been rejected by ex-governor Ayo Fayose as he said the formation of the committee did not conform with the recommendations of the party reconciliatory committee.

Fayose, who spoke to newsmen at his residence at, Afao-Ekiti said he would never be part of the Elders forum, saying the number recommended by the reconciliatory committee was below the 61 members chosen by the state government.

He alleged that the South-West reconciliatory committee had abandoned the feud between him and the other leadership of the party, noting that the committee failed to monitor the implementation of the its recommendation, which he alleged had been hijacked and tailored by the state government.

Fayose said: "For now, I will adopt siddon look, but I know time will tell. In the mean time, we will continue to be in PDP and continue to agitate for genuine reconciliation. I am not interested in this present arrangement because there was no sincerity of purpose in it."

Giving reasons for his absence at the inauguration of the Elders Advisory Committee in Ado-Ekiti last Thursday, Fayose said the South West reconciliatory committee ought to have formed an implementation committee with a view to ensuring all the recommendations to integrate all disgruntled members of the party are followed to the letter.

He, however, disclosed that he's busy going round the state to win more disciples to his fold as political leader in the state.
He explained that on the day the elders forum was inaugurated, he was in Moba council area of the state to sensitise his supporters about his interest in the politics of the state.
When questioned about his political ambition, he answered philosophically that when he got to the bridge, he would cross it.
"I am not answerable to anybody by my political decision because I have free will to determine what I want.'
If I like, I can even quit politics and nobody can question me for the decision."
