Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSS), has thrown its weight behind the Niger State government's move to bring the controversial Mallam Muhammed Bello Masaba to book for not only marrying 86 wives, contrary to Muslim injunction, but for subjecting them to inhuman treatment.

The students' body said he has succeeded in perpetrating such evil by casting a spell on the women, who could no longer discern between right and wrong.
Led by its president, Muhammad Jameel Muhammad, on a courtesy visit to the premises of LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group yesterday, the students were of the opinion that the government must adequately punish Mallam Masaba and as well, organise a deliverance to liberate the women from the evil spell.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Muhammad noted that Masaba's activities were directed at causing chaos in the state, and wondered why some individuals would want to protect him from being punished for his actions.
He said: "The MSS, Niger State Area Unit therefore, throws its weight behind the move by the government to bring Bello to book. The government should not be dissuaded by the hypocritical human rights fighters who do not want to liberate the women under spell by Muhammad Bello Masaba.
"His activities are inhuman. I don't know how you can keep such number of people and you call them wives and people are saying its ok. They are rallying round to protect him to continue perpetrating inhumanity. I am sure if you see the house where he inhabits, that's where he keeps 115 children, that's where he has 86 wives, that's where he has over 200 disciples or whatever he calls them, that's where he has lunatics, with which he perpetrates nuisance in Bida, Niger State. He has kept them there without any form of treatment, no prayers or supplications. His activities are totally inhuman. It is against the Muslim injunction, which says you can marry as many as four. He even claimed to marry 10 more to make them 96, if not for this intervention.
"Psychologically, I don't know how this could happen to human beings, and that's why we rose up to the challenge to call on the government, using the media to intervene by reducing the high rate of poverty in the country. I am sure it is because of the stipends he gives out through his ill gotten money that he manages to lure them to himself."
According to him, Malam Bello has publicly confessed he does not work , yet he kept spending money. "Of course, it cannot be clean money because he confessed he doesn't do any work, but they cook three bags of rice everyday, slaughtering cows and giving out stipends to people. Of course it is not only the money. These people he is keeping in his house are under a spell and need to be delivered", he explained.
He explained that his method of numbering his wives does not exceed four, implying that no one bears a number exceeding four (the number range is between 1 to 4).
