The supervising Bishop of the United African Methodist Evangelical Church, Rt. Rev. Paul Onanuga, has decried the rate at which marriages collapse these days.
The Bishop, who spoke at the wedding ceremony of Lt. Gen. Oladipo Diya's daughter, Dr. Oyebolanle Olajumoke Diya, and her husband, Michael Ebhaleme, said marriages collapse as a result of the absence of Christ in such marriages. He identified incompatibility as another reason responsible for marriage failures. Classifying marriages as that contracted through the court, customary and the church, Bishop Onanuga charged the newly wed to make God their ultimate. He warned the parents to steer clear of the new couple.
In his own advice to the couple, Gen. Diya tasked them to demonstrate genuine love for each other, while the groom's father, Rear Admiral Peter Ebhaleme, said they should live with the fear of God.
