The refusal of a 33-year-old spare parts dealer to buy a beer for his friend in a beer parlour in Osogbo, Osun State has sent him to the grave early after he was stabbed to death during the disagreement.

The tragic incident, according to a source at the Osun State Police Command, occurred on Sunday night (10.00pm) at a beer parlour called Cool Spot when a local musician was on the band stand, entertaining guests and the rendezvous came to an end abruptly after the deceased was stabbed.

The police source told Daily Sun that 28-year-old Taofeek Hassan, a driver, that during the disagreement over a bottle of beer with Mukalia Azeez, the suspect smashed a broken bottle on his friend's head and stabbed him severally.
The suspect, who is now being detained at Oja Oba Police Station, Osogbo was said to have disappeared immediately his friend slumped, while other guests in the beer parlour went after him leaving Azeez to bleed to death.

Azeez, a spare part dealer at the popular Ajegunle market was declared dead on arrival in hospital and the corpse has been deposited at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) by the police team, which picked him up 30 minutes after the stabbing.
According to the source, the suspect was arrested on Monday morning at his hideout following a tip-off by some of those who were around during the incident after the police had searched for him throughout the night.

Daily Sun learnt that the suspect had made useful statement to the Oja Oba police on the incident, while investigations have been concluded and that the suspect would be charged to court within the week.
The source revealed that Hassan stabbed Azeez with the bottle, because he refused to buy him beer. A family member said the information was collaborated by eyewitnesses at the joint.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Moronike and Area Commander, were said to have been briefed on the gruesome murder.

Meanwhile, the murder case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on the orders of the commissioner of police, while since the arrest of the suspect, none of his family members had visited him at the police station. The suspect told Daily Sun that he only took one bottle of beer and was about leaving when the deceased asked him not to go, a claim which was debunked by relations of the late Azeez who insisted that he was drunk as the time of the ugly incident.

His words: 'I broke the beer bottle and did not know when I stabbed him on the neck. My thinking was that I thought he would survive and I hope to visit him the next day at the hospital.'
At the family compound of the late Azeez at Esa Binuyo Street, Osogbo, when Daily Sun correspondent visited there on Tuesday, the atmosphere was tense as sympathizers were seen condoling his aged father and mother.
