Ngige, Dokubo Campaign For Lagos AC

Former governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige, the leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, and several other activists, this morning, stormed Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos state, to campaign for the Action Congress, AC, ahead of the local government election.

The election is scheduled for Saturday, and the activists came en masse to support another activist, Comrade Ayo Adewale, AC Chairmanship candidate for the Local Government. The activists gathered at the Road 206 playing ground, 2nd Avenue, Festac Town, where solidarity messages were expected to be read.

Speaking with P.M.News this morning, Mr. Adewale said he decided to go into politics to help governor Babatunde Fashola bring leadership to the grassroots.

He said the reason there is so much decadence and poverty in the country is because good people are taking the backstage, while allowing greedy and selfish politicians embezzle all the resources.

He said: 'We are rounding off the campaign today. As a member of the civil society, we believe that activists must take the centrestage. Most of them have taken the backstage, that's why we have all kinds of problems in the land today.

'I promise the people good governance as it is done in Lagos State, particularly through his Excellency Governor Babatunde Fashola. You know the Action Congress has a people-oriented programme. 'We have decided to take leadership to the grassroots as prescribed by his Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.'

Adewale explained that Dokubo, Ngige and other activists are supporting him because they know he will deliver. The activists are also expected to visit other local governments in Badagry. At the time of filing this report, the rally was about to kick off.
