P.M.News learnt, this morning, that the young bank manager met her husband in the same bank some years back. When they got married, the husband left the bank and got a job in another bank. Most banks do not allow spouses to work in the same bank.
Sources said the young woman was expecting a baby when she was shot five times in the head yesterday, during a robbery operation in the bank.
It was alleged that the bank manager did not promptly cooperate with the robbers who shot several times on the metal detector door to gain access into the banking hall.
The robbers were said to have asked the bank manager to open the door, but when she failed to do so, the robbers blew it off with an explosive and shot her several times in the head.
The bank manager was rushed to a private hospital on Davies Street, Ketu, where she was rejected and referred to the General Hospital, Ikeja. But she died before getting to the hospital.
At press time, neither the bank management nor the police have given details of the robbery incident and what led to the gruesome killing of the pregnant woman. The robbers struck at about 9:15 a.m., and operated in the bank for 30 minutes unchallenged by security agents.
