Human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, said he and his wife, Ganiyat, have vowed to fight his cancer ailment to the end.
Human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, said he and his wife, Ganiyat, have vowed to fight his cancer ailment to the end.
Fawehinmi is currently in London, where he is battling cancer. He told P.M.News that he would not give up on the fight against his ailment, saying God would certainly heal him.
'I thank Nigerians for their prayers. I will not give up. I will fight this cancer and God will make me well,' he stated confidently.
Fawehinmi said his wife was determined that we must fight this cancer and she is committed to the fight against it. She thanked Nigerians for their prayers and support,' said Fawehinmi. The activist had been ill since last year July, when he was flown abroad for urgent medical attention.
He had a surgical operation in August, 2007, and was subsequently placed on an incubator in a London hospital.
Fawehinmi was later diagnosed to be suffering from cancer of the lungs which made him to miss his daughter's engagement and wedding ceremonies. On his 70th birthday, this year, put together by the Campaign for Democracy (CD), the activist failed to attend because of his ill-health. He later spoke to the large gathering of people celebrating his birthday through the phone from London.
