The Niger Delta creek Task Force has declared a flying boat operator in one of the creeks in Rivers state wanted, describing him as a conveyor of militants who have turned the creeks into a dangerous zone.
PMNews gathered that the boat operator, Sunday Jacob, escaped arrest when a team of the Task Force operatives swooped on his gang, and some of his colleagues arrested.
A statement by the Joint Task Force(JTF) alleged that Jacob normally used his boat to convey militants on their kidnap missions, and that it had for long been monitoring the blue and white flying boat's routine on sea.
The press statement further revealed that Jacob, who until his escape, resided in one of the riverine communities in Okrika, Rivers state, registered as a waterway transporter, operating along the creeks, but it was noticed that his boat was often used by pirates and militants.
The JTF, in its statement, cited that 'we believe that Sunday Jacob and his colleagues have escaped to neighbouring states. We therefore appeal to patriotic Nigerians who sight them, especially the leader, Sunday Jacob, to report to the nearest police station.'
The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Agberebi Akpoebi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, confirmed that the activities of militants have become notorious in the Niger Delta, and that several of them had been declared wanted
