Mr. Emmanuel Okoro, who was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for printing $2.1 million (N247.8 million) fake currency, has claimed that he did so because he was on a vengeance mission.

The 30-year-old, who hails from Imo state, was arrested in Kano state by operatives of the EFCC, yesterday, when his hideout, at Badawa village, was raided and drums of the fake currency were discovered.
Okoro said he went into the business because he had once been duped of N1.8 million belonging to his spare parts dealer boss, and wanted to revenge by printing the fake dollars to swindle others. He confessed that the tools of his dubious trade include candle wax and Coca-Cola mixed with Pears baby oil. He also claimed that he was defrauded then by the same gang he was working with at the time of his arrest.
According to him, 'we make our victims believe we can print currencies of any country in any quantity they can afford.
'That, itself, will be determined by how much the victims can invest in the purchase of chemicals for printing the currency, samples of which we show the victims, ostensibly to make them desperate.'
His arrest was due to the new collaboration between the EFCC and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. EFCC's Head, Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Babafemi, said efforts were on to get other members of the syndicate. Okoro will soon be arraigned in court.
