The Community Development Committee at Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area, within the Alimosho Local Government Council, has petitioned the Chairman, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, to drop Alhaji Abiodun Mafe as chairmanship candidate representing Action Congress (AC) in the forthcoming local government election.
In the petition, signed by Yinka Adedoyin, CDC chairman, and Alhaji A. Subair, General-Secretary, it was alleged that the community was opposed to his candidature on the ground that he has various civil and criminal cases pending in court.
One of such is a case, MIK/D/455/98, at Court 4, in the Ikeja Magistrate's Court, where Alhaji Mafe and others were accused of looting and damaging church property.
The community appealed to LASIEC to compel Mafe to clear himself of the criminal charges against him in the courts, before contesting for any position.
Copies of the petition were also sent to the state AC Chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale, ex-governor Bola Tinubu, Engr. Rauf Aregbesola, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, and Obibiyo Adelabu, who represents the area in the House.
