‘Uwazuruike, MASSOB After My Life' - Chekwas Okorie

National chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has alleged that his life is under threat by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) and its leader, Ralph Uwazuruike.

National chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has alleged that his life is under threat by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) and its leader, Ralph Uwazuruike.

In a press release made available to P.M.News, this morning, the APGA chieftain said this was as a result of his description of the MASSOB as a fraud.

Okorie had recently granted interviews to two national dailies in which he accused the Uwazuruike-led MASSOB of misleading the Igbo about the possibility of the realisation of the state of Biafra. He also accused the organisation of not subjecting most of its action and directives to deep analysis, to enable them know their potential effects in the South-East region.

He asserted that as a result of this, most of the actions of the organisation have had negative consequences on the South-East. Uwazurike stated the example of the campaign for the boycott of the last census exercise by MASSOB, which had a negative impact as it led to gross under estimation of the number of the people in the region.

The APGA chairman also said that he has not known peace since the comments had been published. 'Chief Uwazurike, who called me on my phone after reading the interview abused me thoroughly and threatened that I will not live to see the announcement of Biafra'.

'Immediately after his call, his wife also called me and rained more abuses on me and claimed she was speaking for all Igbo women and repeated the same threat as her husband.'

'Shortly after this encounter, during which I was not given an opportunity to explain myself, my two telephone numbers were promptly forwarded to all MASSOB heads in Nigeria to threaten me and my family of an impending annihilation,' said Okorie.
