Eighty-seven lawyers, from across the country, have been assembled to defend Minna mega-polygamist, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Masaba, who is now in prison custody.
Eighty-seven lawyers, from across the country, have been assembled to defend Minna mega-polygamist, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Masaba, who is now in prison custody.
Mohammed Sanusi, leader of the group of lawyers, told P.M.News, this morning, that the lawyers would be assembled from Kaduna, Abuja, Ilorin, Sokoto, Port Harcourt, Ibadan and Lagos.
He also told P.M.News that a lawyer, Barrister Femi Dennis, has filed an applicancation for bail at the Niger State High Court, Minna. Hearing of the application may come up tomorrow or Wednesday, he said.
The lead counsel said it was wrong to have prosecuted Alhaji Masaba under the Penal Code since the offence he allegedly committed was under the Islamic Code, Sharia. The lawyers are expected to meet in Kaduna, today, to deliberate on the best form of defence for the embattled Masaba.
