The Lagos state government has relocated some displaced Tejuoso Marker traders to the Article Dealers Association Market, opposite the Trade Fair Complex, Abule Osun Bus Stop.
This, P.M.News learnt, is in fulfilment of the understanding between the state government and the traders, that they would be temporarily relocated until the Tejuosho market, which is under construction, is completed.
President of the Article Dealers Association, Chief Charles O. Muorah, explained that following discussion with the state government, the market released 2,000 shops for the relocated traders.
Confirming the relocation to P.M.News, the President of Tejuosho Market traders, Chief Okey Nwaogu, commended the state government and thanked those who stood by the traders during their trying period. Chief Nwaogu appealed to the state government to fulfil its promise to pay for the shops and mount a billboard to announce their presence in the new market, which he described as very conducive for trading.
'The only problem is how to make our customers here to patronise us,' he stated. Meanwhile, the Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, has reiterated his commitment to make the state conducive for living. The governor stated this while speaking with market leaders at Ashogbon, Ilaje, Bariga, during his tour of the area.
Fashola disclosed that works on the ultra-modern markets being constructed in some parts of the state, including Tejuosho, Oshodi, Oyingbo and Oluwole markets, were steadily in progress.
He warned traders to always operate within the confines of the spaces allocated for the markets and desist from trading along major roads to avoid accidents and ease traffic flow.
