A 47-year-old staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Mr. Yahaya Raufu, has decided to call it quit with his wife of seven years.
A 47-year-old staff of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Mr. Yahaya Raufu, has decided to call it quit with his wife of seven years.
In a divorce petition he filed at the Agege Customary Court, Yahaya accused his estranged wife of infidelity. He appealed to the court to dissolved the marriage because his wife had eloped with a bricklayer he contracted to work for him. The petitioner could not overcome his emotions as he cried profusely while narrating his ordeal in the hands of his wife who abandoned him and his two sons; Ayomide, 7, and Ganiyu, 4.
'Her late nights prompted me to carry out some investigations about her movements and I discovered that the bricklayer that was helping me was the one she was dating,' Raufu told the court. The respondent, whose names could not be ascertained at the end of the proceeding, was not in court. The presiding magistrate, Ike Bruce, adjourned the matter till 24 September, 2008, to enable the wife respond to the allegations.
