Former International and Nantes of France striker, Coach Samson Siasia, has said that he was ready to resign his appointment with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Former International and Nantes of France striker, Coach Samson Siasia, has said that he was ready to resign his appointment with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Siasia said he was moving ahead with his coaching career after he led the Dream Team IV to the silver medal at the just-ended Beijing Games, in China.
According to Siasia, "I am through with the Nigerian Federation for now as far as my coaching career is concerned.
"I'm moving ahead with my career.
"I have several offers during and after the Games. And of all the offers that came my way, that of Japan looks very attractive. Invariably, I will be heading to Japan when all the necessary things have been sorted out."
Siasia also used the occasion to talk on his experience as he declared that the federation had wanted him to fail in course of preparing the Dream Team IV for the Games.
"Some people had wanted me to fail in course of preparing the team for the Olympics.
"Some of the important things that would have aided our preparations were left unattended to, thereby making things difficult for us.
"The federation wanted me to fail but I thank God and Nigerians for their prayers which helped us in no small way in getting to the final of the Olympic football event."
He said that he was disappointed with those players who refused to honour national calls to serve their fatherland, saying that without them, other patriotic players who honoured the call gave more than their best and was very happy for their performance at the Games.
"I am disappointed that some of players refused to honour the national call to serve their fatherland.
"If Messi could come to the Olympics even against the wishes of his club, I don't know why our own players would not."I am happy for those who honoured the national call and at the same time gave their all in the Games. I appreciate them."Of all the players who did not turn up for the Games, it was Taye Taiwo who gave the biggest head ache."
He said prior to the Games that he had only 17 players with him until FIFA granted the request of the Nigerian Federation to include one of the alternate players.
"Prior to the commencement of the Games, I had 17 players until FIFA granted the request of the Nigerian Federation to include one of the alternate players.
"Shame to those who did not honour the national call.
"It is true that we missed the gold, but we did our best. I am proud of the team."
