Four men have been arraigned before the Yaba Chief Magistrate's Court on a four-count charge of attempted murder, stealing and arson.
The accused are Semiu Badiru, 49; Taiwo Musa, 42; Muraini Badiru, 35 and Bashiru Badiru, 57. They were alleged to have set ablaze three housing units, valued at N1 million and stealing four flying boat engines, valued at N1 million, belonging to Chief Julius Baraka.
The accused were also alleged to have threatened the life of Chief Julius Baraka, Moshood Ibrahim and Mope Wilson, at 9, Resettlement Estate, Ijede, Lagos on 5 June, 2008. The offences are punishable under sections 516, 443(a), 390(9) and 320(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The four men pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each and two sureties in like sum by Chief Magistrate A. O. Adelaja. The case has been adjourned till 21 November, 2008.
