Oyo state government has decide to salvage the collapsing Bower Tower, a tourist centre, situated at Igbo Agala Area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, stating that it has earmarked N10 million for its facelift.

Disclosing this to P.M.News, the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaja Risikatu Alabi, said while N8 million was earmarked for the construction of the road leading to the centre, N2 million would be spent on the centre itself.

She noted that the state government is concluding arrangement to give priority to tourism in the state, adding that this year's world tourism day would be celebrated at the centre.

She said that the government was aware that N10 million was not enough to resuscitate the centre, but just wanted to give it a temporary facelift, adding that to raise the centre to an international standard would cost about N100 million.

Her words: 'We are celebrating the next World Tourism Day at the Tower. Definitely by implication, this month, we are starting the resuscitation. We have some amount that we can only use for the facelift so we can start from somewhere.'

Pointing out that tourism was so capital intensive that government could not do it alone, she urged investors 'who are interested in tourism to come and partner with us.'
