The son of a retired commissioner of police, Diejawon Owafasa, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly removing a housewife's teeth, over N50.
Owafasa, 29, an insurance agent with the American International Insurance Company (AIICO) was alleged to have attacked Mrs. Omolara Omotosho, at her shop, at 2, Oloyo Street, Abule Odu, Egbeda, Lagos.
P.M.News gathered that trouble started when the suspect refused to pay for the satchet water he bought from the complainant. The suspect was said to have punched the complainant hard in the mouth which resulted in her losing two of her teeth.
The incident was reported at the Idimu Police station and he was arrested and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate's Court for assault. The offence is punishable under Section 338 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety. He could not meet the bail conditions and was remanded at the Kirikiri Medium Prison, Apapa. The matter has been adjourned till 6 October, for mentioning.
