‘How My Father Died' - Son Of The Late Olu Of Epe

The late Olu of Epe, Alhaji Muhammed Muktar Ayinde Arojojoje, Balogun-Agbaje III, died after complaining of stomach ache, last Friday.

The late Olu of Epe, Alhaji Muhammed Muktar Ayinde Arojojoje, Balogun-Agbaje III, died after complaining of stomach ache, last Friday.

Revealing this to P.M.News at the palace of the late monarch, one of his sons, Prince Noheem Olabode Balogun-Agbaje, narrated how he did everything to save his father's life, but to no avail.

The prince, who works with Epe Local Government Area, said: 'Kabiyesi was okay on Friday morning. We were together the previous night before he went to bed. Around 11.30 a.m., the following day, he called me and told me that he was having a serious stomach ache.

'I persuaded him to break his Ramadan fast, but he refused. When the pains was getting too much, I prepared tea for him which he took, and I called Dr. Orebola from Epe General Hospital, who treated him and placed him on drips.

'The doctor came back around 9 p.m. to check him and he was responding to treatment. The doctor told me that he would ask a nurse to come and check him later. When the nurse came around 11 p.m., he was just saying Laila illalahu Muhammadu Rosululahi, meaning: There is no God except Allah and Prophet Muhammed is His Apostle. When I noticed that he was no longer talking, I moved closer and discovered that he was crying. When I asked why, he said he was crying because of two things. One, he could not observe the Jumat prayers that day and secondly, the meeting with the Muslim community of Epe Central Mosque, fixed for 4 p.m. that day, could not hold.

'I told him to remain calm as he would hold the meeting with them later. Before I could finish speaking, he gave up the ghost. Time was exactly 11.15p.m.'
