The power tussle between the Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan, and the governor of his home state, Bayelsa, Timipre Sylva, is getting messier, and contrary to what their aides will want Nigerians to believe, this much HiSociety can reveal.
According to those who know, the stifling power tussle between the two prominent sons of the only Ijaw state in the country is responsible for the non appointment of commissioners to help the governor for over three months since the conclusion of the court-ordered re-run governorship election, which Sylva won.
HiSociety was informed that prior to the re-run, Sylva signed a deal with the Vice President in Abuja, to ensure his support for him, especially the federal might.
Sources informed that the deal so signed gave the VP about 50 per cent commissionership slots into the expected new cabinet and this was deliberate on the part of the governor because he knew he would honour the deal in breach since it was strictly for the purpose of the election re-run.
However, with the election over and victory secured, the VP, HiSociety gathered, is bent on implementing the terms of the agreement to the letter by nominating his supporters for the 50 per cent slot allotted to him for commissionership.
But Timipre Sylva has a different idea about the said Abuja agreement, and he is fully supported by his own godfather, Edmond Daukuro, who sponsored his ambition in the first place.
Sources informed that why the governor was dragging his feet about the agreement was that it will shut him out of any plan to seek a second term since he knows he was never a candidate of the VP.
It is this stalemate that delayed the formation of new cabinet in Bayelsa for three months after the governorship election, it was gathered.
