Embattled former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Ladoja was granted bail in the sum of N100 million with two sureties, this morning, by the court. The sureties must have landed property in Lekki and Ikoyi. They must also show evidence of payment of tax.
The former Oyo state helmsman, who is facing a 33-count charge of illegal sale of shares belonging to the Oyo State government, was arrested, last week, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and detained in one of its cells in Lagos.
The EFCC also accused him of not accounting for about N1.9 billion proceeds of the shares sold. Arrested along with him were seven of his associates, including Adewale Atanda, Abiodun Kola Daisi, Gregory Opsu, Malplaize Trust and Securities Limited, Fountain Securities and Heritage Apartment Limited.
Following his inability to meet the bail conditions immediately, he was taken back to the EFCC cell while the matter was adjourned till 20 October, for mentioning.
