A 32-year-old applicant, Fidelis Ifeanyi Onwuka, has been stabbed to death by an unknown attacker. But the police, in a swift action, arrested and detained the prime suspect, Imeh Patience, the deceased's girl friend.
P.M.News investigation revealed that on that fateful evening of Tuesday, this week, Fidelis, who resided at 22, Oshineye Street, Pedro, Lagos, was called on phone by a friend. He reportedly went to visit the caller and never returned home.
Speaking with P.M.News, Fidelis's brother, Expensive Onwuka, said the girlfriend was suspected to be the brain behind the killing because his late brother had on many occasions complained to members of the family that Imeh had always threatened to kill him (Fidelis).
Said Expensive: 'We witnessed it sometime, when there was a minor misunderstanding, the girl will boast, ‘I will kill you', and she kept threatening him regularly.'
Their father, Mr. Christian Onwuka, confirmed knowing Imeh and his late son to be friends. He added that Fidelis informed members of the family before he left for Bariga on Tuesday, but expressed surprise to learn of his son's death, later that evening.
Contacted, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Bariga Police station, Superintendent of Police (SP) Oladapo Abdul Gani, said the prime suspect, Imeh, was arrested and had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further interrogation. SP Abdul Gani also confirmed that Fidelis' body had been deposited at the Gbagada General Hospital mortuary.
