‘No Crack In Lagos AC' - Scribe

The Lagos State Chapter of the Action Congress has declared that there is no crack in the party as is being speculated in some quarters.

The Lagos State Chapter of the Action Congress has declared that there is no crack in the party as is being speculated in some quarters.

A statement by Joe Igbokwe, the party's state publicity secretary, said publication in some of our national newspapers suggesting that there is a major crisis in the party in Lagos State, was a blatant lie.

According to him, 'an honest statement credited to our great leader and indomitable Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that 3 or 4 LGAs out of 57 will be used to compensate committed, loyal, patriotic and strong leaders of the party who have been with the party through thick and thin, has been misinterpreted and misquoted to give the impression that Tinubu is imposing candidates in all 57 LGAs and LCDAs.

'Again, some people are using normal disagreement within the party which is normal in any democratic setting to suggest that our great party is mired in crisis.

'Let me state unequivocally here without mincing words that our great party, the Lagos Action Congress, is ever intact, solid, big and strong. If a strong political party like Lagos AC is made up of people from diverse backgrounds, and different shades of opinion, we concur that it is normal for members to disagree to agree. Issues must be debated like we all do in our party secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba, and members are free to express their feelings, but majority carries the day when the chips are down.'

Igbokwe added: 'The leadership of the party in Lagos is made up of men of proven integrity, honour and character who have what it takes to run a dynamic and disciplined party like AC in Lagos and our critics will be disappointed at the turn of events in the next couple of weeks. The leadership of the party is aware of the unique position of Lagos AC in Nigeria and we will leave nothing to chance in repositioning the party at the national level to wrest power from the big-for-nothing party called the PDP. Those who are waiting to celebrate the fall of Lagos AC must put on their thinking caps because it will never, never happen in Nigeria.

'For the umpteenth time, let me remind those who may not know it that Lagos AC has come to stay in Nigeria, it will continue to show leadership by example and it will stand the test of time. Aggrieved members may be kicking and spoiling for a showdown, but the showdown will eventually lead to slowdown and peaceful reconciliation.'
