Newly elected caretaker chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos chapter, Alhaji Abdul Rafiu Akanni Olohunwa, has declared that he enjoys the blessings of the immediate past and present governors of Lagos State.
In a chat with P.M.News, the NURTW boss said that he was set to reform the union, not minding whose ox is gored in the process.
He said all he needed to propel a change in the activities of NURTW in the state was to get the support of Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
'I enjoy the support of the governor and that of his predecessor. They have assured me that I can now make the union an enviable one, different from the wrong impressions people have about us. All hands are now on deck to make history,' he said, adding that he has begun to sensitise his members of the enormous task before them.
Olohunwa also said his administration would go tough on ‘area boys' parading themselves as members of the NURTW and warned bonafide members of the union to desist from all forms of violence and hooliganism capable of dragging the name of the union in the mud.
