CDHR Condemns Osun Gov


Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has accused the Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, of harassing human rights activists in the state.

Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has accused the Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, of harassing human rights activists in the state.

Reacting to the recent arrest, detention and subsequent arraignment of 24 human rights activists who went to Osogbo to deliver a petition against the state election petitions tribunal judges, who were indicted by TheNEWS magazine, for professional misconduct, the committee wondered how Governor Oyinlola should forget so soon that it was these same activists who fought for the democracy he is now enjoying.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, CDHR, Lagos chapter, Comrade Adesegun Augustine Aloba, the committee warned Governor Oyinlola to drop all the charges preferred against the activists.

CDHR also advised the Commissioner of Police in Osun State to face the task of fighting crimes in the state, instead of harassing opponents and law abiding citizens in the state.
