Suspected armed robbers on Sunday raided the Aramoko Divisional Police Headquarters in Ekiti West Local Government Council and freed some detained suspects.

A competent police source told the News Agency of Nigeria that three policemen attached to the station were injured during the two-hour raid.

NAN learnt that a six-man robbery gang had raided a neighbouring town of Ido-Ile and robbed some citizens of the town who were on weekend visits.

Narrating the incident in an interview, the traditional ruler of Ido-Ile, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, explained that the robbers came into the town around 10pm.

He said that they wanted to check into one of the hotels in the town but were informed by the receptionist that there was no accommodation for them.

Obaleye said that since the robbers could not find accommodation, they began to rob residents of the area.

Luck, however, ran out on them when the Peugeot 504 station wagon with which they were operating broke down on their escape route and a vigilance group in the town challenged them.
