The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is perfecting fresh charges for the embattled former Governor of Adamawa State, Mr. Boni Haruna.
The fresh charges, P.M.News gathered, is in relation to the alleged pilfering of local government funds by the former governor, during his eight-year tenure.
According to our sources, the charges being prepared contain details of how the former governor mismanaged the council funds in the state.
The commission's chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, confirmed the story at the weekend, during an interractive session with journalists, in Abuja.
According to the chairman, a separate charge was being preferred against Haruna in respect of the local government funds which he allegedly embezzled.
'Investigations had been concluded, we were planning to prosecute the case in Adamawa State, but Haruna's counsel pleaded with us to prosecute the case here in Abuja, since the law allows it,' Farida said.
She said it would amount to an overkill to be prosecuting him in Abuja, and at the same time charging him to court in Adamawa.
Farida, who refused to comment on the demotion of her predecessor, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, reiterated her resolve to step on toes of corrupt Nigerians, saying she will do her job 'very quietly but diligently, not the entertainment and very loud approach of Nuhu Ribadu.
'I remember the day he came to my book presentation, when it was time for him to make a speech, he stood up and said ‘where are they, you will not see them here. If it is money we are to share here today, this hall would have been filled up. We shall get them all, God will punish them,' and the people in the hall started clapping for him. To me, that is entertainment,' Farida explained.
