Prince Adeferanmi Sijuwade had last Friday walked into P.M.News office at Acme Road claiming to be Oba Sijuwade's son and that his relationship with a popular Yoruba home video actress, Toyin Adegbola a.k.a. Asewo To Re Mecca, had led to the Ooni disowning him.
But reacting to Adeferanmi's claim this morning, Oba Sijuwade' Secretary, Mr. Funmilola Olorunnisola, described Adeferanmi as a fraudster who has been impersonating the children of Oba Sijuwade to dupe unsuspecting members of the public.
'Oba Sijuwade doesn't know him. He is not the son of Oba Sijuwade. In fact, he is not known here in the palace. He is a fraudster who has been going around impersonating the children of Kabiyesi and duping innocent members of the public.
'His claim is scandalising the palace. He will call himself Wing Commander today, tomorrow Navy Commander and sometimes Colonel. We don't know him. We don't know where he comes from.
'His story is baffling. I have been working for Ooni for the past 23 years and I have never heard about him. He was arrested by the police in Ibadan with Toyin Adegbola over a matter. I learnt that he was also arrested by the police at Panti over a fraudulent matter. I have never seen this guy in my life,' Mr. Olorunisola told P.M.News on phone this morning.
But when contacted on phone this morning, Prince Adeferanmi insisted that he was Oba Sijuwade's fourth son and promised to reveal his paternity to Oba Sijuwade later.
P.M.News investigation, however, revealed that Prince Adeferanmi Sijuwade had been arrested by the police many times in connection with fraud-related cases.
A police source told P.M.News that Prince Adeferanmi was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) when he was caught wearing a military uniform with the rank of a Wing Commander and having a pistol.
He was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti for investigation.
At the end of their investigations, detectives at the SCID charged him to the Ebute Metta Magistrate's Court for impersonation.
He was later granted bail but since he was granted bail he refused to turn up at the court for trial.
'He jumped bail and since then, we have been looking for him,' a police source told P.M.News.
Investigations revealed further that the suspected fraudster lives with his mother at Oyemekun Street, Ogba and was recently paraded by the police as a fraudster.
