Scores of friends and admirers of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, who visited his Minna, Niger State, home on Sunday to felicitate with him on his 67th birthday went home disappointed.
Nigerian Tribune can report that the gates to the Uphill Mansion of the former military ruler were locked and no visitor was allowed into the premises.
Most of those that came to rejoice with him were told by security men at the gates that the celebrant was not at home.
The security men also refused to answer questions from any visitors on the whereabouts of the former military president.
Investigations, however, revealed that General Babangida and his wife, Maryam, left Minna for Kano on Saturday morning from where he was said to have returned to Kaduna where he spent the night.
In the early hours of Sunday, the anniversary day, Babangida was reported to have left Kaduna for Abuja in order to avoid those that might know that he was in Kaduna.
A media aide to the former military president, Alhaji Mahmmud Abdulahi, told the Nigerian Tribune that it was not compulsory for Babangida to celebrate his birthday in Minna.
'IBB is a man of the people. He can celebrate his birthday anywhere,' Abdullahi said.
