Recently, in various police and military barracks, robbery is gradually becoming common occurrence as residents lament the torment and harassment of hoodlums who dare the armed officers to invade their homes.
However, these incidents have been traced to children of police and military officers who are also residents in the barracks and know the terrain so well as to invite outsiders who raid the homes of officers. These children who are struggling in the face of hardship are left with the only choice of indulging in robbery with the aid of their father's weapons.
According a victim of the act in recent times, a Chief Superintendent of Police and the DPO of one of the stations in Lagos urban, the terrorists must have cast a spell on him before having their way into his home.
The DPO said members of his family had slept off at about 11am when a robber sneaked into his house at a police barracks in Ikeja. The robbery suspect made away with two cell phones from his living room. The same invader later had access to the officer's wife's room where he took some cash, clothes and handsets. As if that was not enough, he proceeded to the DPO's room where he took his trousers and made away with other.
'I was shocked when I discovered that my room was raided by robbers when I was fast asleep. How can they open my door without any sound? They went as far as dipping their hand under my pillow to remove my handset. What other explanation would anyone give than I was under a spell? It was pure juju
Another police officer who lost his cell phones to invaders at home lamented the menace. Saturday Sun had visited the station for confirmation of a story at Ikotun and met one of the police officers shouting that there was an armed robber in the house. 'They are breeding thieves in the office. I had slept forgetting my phone on the table. When I woke up, it had disappeared. 'The reporter suggested that it might be the handiwork of visitors but he said. ' It was taken by my colleague. No visitor would dare it. They are worse than criminals and should be curbed.'
