A woman leader and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Anambra State, Mrs Amaka Gold Chigbo, has lauded the new initiative of the party in the state, led by Chief Chuma Nwofor.

She described PDP as a big threat to the other political parties in the state. Mrs Chigbo, who spoke in Awka, said the Nwofor team has evidently become the soothing balm to all frayed political nerves in the state.
According to her, 'democracy, and party politics is all about people and numbers. The leadership should always be people-friendly and appeal to their feelings, needs and expectations. But that the immediate past executive and leadership of the party lacked those qualities'.
Mrs Chigbo praised president Musa Yar'Adua and the National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, and the party's hierarchy, 'for choosing this high calibre men/women of integrity to restore hope to the party in the state.'
She said whatever happens to PDP in Anambra State also has rippling effect in the entire South-Eastern states, and commended the wisdom in bringing the chairmen of the party in Imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi on board the Nwofor committee.
It was gathered that so far, in less than one week after the committee began its fence mending mission, Prince Osita Ezenwa, who quit PDP, as well as Senator Emma Anosike, who defected to the Action Congress (AC), are back in the PDP fold again.
They all returned with all their teeming supporters, and in their separate public declarations, their message appeared to be similar and declarative-that the Nwofor committee's assurance has given them hope that justice and fairness has returned to PDP.
Ukachukwu who received a new copy of the party's constitution and membership card, urged his 10,000 supporters that gathered, to shift their allegiance to the PDP.
