The Lagos State Governor's office was thrown into pandemonium on Wednesday when burglars broke into one of the rooms and carted away about N4 million.
A source revealed to Saturday Tribune that the burglars had since been arrested while N3 million had been recovered from them. According to the source, the money belonged to the governor's escorts and was kept in the custody of the Round House official popularly known as Golf Sally (General Commander).
He said, 'Golf Sally is a retired police officer who worked with former Governor Bola Tinubu. He is still in the service now because he is a good person. He is the one who normally pays the escorts but when he got to where he kept the money he could not find it.
He quickly cried out. Now, two people have been arrested while investigation continues.' However, the security at the Round House has been beefed up.
The burglary has also become the main topic of discussion, as people gather in groups around the office to deliberate on it. Asked if any of his colleagues was involved in the investigation case, a neighbourhood official said no, adding that the affected office was beyond their area of coverage.
Though, he confirmed that two people had been arrested, he stated that he did not know who were in charge of the investigation.
According to him, 'None of the neighbourhood officials was involved in this matter. We only learnt about it and we gathered that the culprits had been arrested. I don't know why people just like to put themselves in trouble. They just want to indict General Commander.'
