A member of a 10-man syndicate that specialises in swindling innocent citizens of their hard currencies, Adeola Adegoke, has been arrested by the police in Lagos.

Acting on a complaint lodged by Mr. Ani Bethel Chiadikuobi, police operatives from the Zone II Command, Onikan, swooped on the swindlers operating between C.M.S Bus-Stop and Tinubu Square, and arrested one of them.

Their mode of operation, according to police investigation, is to target travellers trying to change hard currencies. The swindler, it was gathered, would swap genuine money given to them for fake currencies and later accuse the owner of trying to change fake currencies.

The suspect, who is now being detained in a police cell at Onikan, allegedly confessed that he was introduced into the 'business' three years ago by the gang leader, whom he identified as Kabiru, alias Ope, now at large.

He narrated how Kabiru supplied the fake hard currencies, and also identified other members of the gang as Nuru, Ibrahim, Ilori, Omar and five others. He also revealed their hideout at the back of CMS bookshop.

The fraudsters, it was learnt, collected 6,500 Euro from the complainant. P.M.News gathered that the suspect confirmed that his gang collected the money and shared it on 27 July, at their hideout. Investigation into the matter continues.
