Unidentified gunmen operating in Akwa Ibom State have kidnapped a female lawyer residing in Akwa Ibom state with four of her kids while returning from Church programme in Uyo, the state capital. The victim whose name was simply given as Barrister Hannah Udofia and her children were said to have been whisked away at gun point just at the gate of her compound last Tuesday night.

The victim whose name was simply given as Barrister Hannah Udofia and her children were said to have been whisked away at gun point just at the gate of her compound last Tuesday night.
Sources told THISDAY that the hoodlums are demanding for N7 million ransom before the release of the woman and her kids whose husband, Mr. Michael Udofia, is said to be the Chief Executive Officer, Fens Oil, an oil servicing firm.
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mike Zuokumor, confirmed the incident saying the police are working round the clock to ensure the woman and her children are released.
He disclosed that some people who came to plant charm at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia for the Police to release some of the gunmen arrested and still under the custody of the Command have been arrested.
The Police Commissioner said although the native doctor escaped, his lieutenants were picked up while trying to spread charm across the road so that the Commissioner will be affected by it after crossing it and will be compelled to release the gunmen unconditionally.
Zuokumor who said the native doctor came from Obot Akara Local Government Area of the state boasted that even if they had succeeded in carrying out the exercise he would not have been affected.
'From investigations, the native doctor came from Obot Akara. They brought the juju to put at strategic places to influence the release of some militants in detention at the Police Headquarters but luck ran out on them as my men who were on survelliance apprehended them. The juju would not have affected me but will rather strengthen me more', he stated.
