The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is beaming searchlight on contractors working with Federal ministries and government agencies. The move, according to a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the anti-graft agency's Head of Media and Publicity, Femi Babafemi is in line with the provisions of Part II, Section 6 of the EFCC Act 2004.

According to Babafemi, the decision 'is also a follow-up to the discoveries of the various probes that multi-million naira contracts were awarded to contractors who were neither registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) nor the awarding government ministries or parastatal agencies.'
Already, letters have been sent to ministers and heads of parastatal agencies requesting them to furnish the EFCC with the list of registered contractors working with them.

The are also required to provide details of all contracts awarded in the last four years, the amount and status of the contracts as well as other relevant information.
