In his bid to wipe out crime in Lagos and its environs, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo has put his top officers on the alert round the clock.
In his bid to wipe out crime in Lagos and its environs, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo has put his top officers on the alert round the clock.
P.M.News gathered that the police boss was miffed by the spate of crime after he took over from his predecessor and immediately swung into action.
To make the fight against criminals effective, Akpoyibo was said to have adopted the leadership-by-example style by drafting his officers from the rank of Deputy Commissioners to Assistant Commissioners to the field for surveillance, crime prevention and control.
P.M.News has it on a reliable police source that Assistant Commissioner of Police who were mainly in operations and Area Commands have been mandated to lead their various teams on a 24-hour surveillance in their various commands.
To this effect, border routes, creeks and other black spots across the state are now being patrolled regularly in search of cross-border robbers who recently unleashed terror on residents of the state.
Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) are also to be on the alert for 24 hours.
Akpoyibo had told P.M.News in a brief chat in his office recently that he had brought down the rate of crime in Lagos and its environs.
