What could have resulted in another tragedy of monumental proportion was averted this morning when law enforcement agents quickly dislodged over 30 residents scooping diesel from a fallen tanker along Idi-Iroko Road, Ota, Ogun State.
The Total Petroleum tanker, carrying diesel to a filling station in Idi-Iroko fell when it hit a poll near the Obasanjo Farms.
The content spilled onto the road and the gutters, raising fears of fire outbreak among residents of the area.
Some residents, P.M.News gathered, quickly mobilised and stopped vehicles from plying the busy Idi-Iroko road while others quickly packed their belongings out of their houses.
Some unscrupulous commuter bus drivers and residents tried to take advantage of the situation by scooping diesel from the fallen tanker and gutters around but were qucikly dislodged by policemen from nearby Obasanjo Farms and Sango police Division.
The fallen tanker was still at the scene of the accident at the time of filinng this report.
