Mrs. Chibuzor Patrick, Public Relations Officer of Julius Berger Nigeria Limited, has charged Nigerian youths to remain confident and focused in order to excel in their chosen careers in future.
She gave the advice while delivering a paper entiled Harnessing A Good Public Relations Skill for Economic and Educational Development, at an educational seminar organised by Educational Administration Students Forum, held at the University of Lagos, recently.
Patrick said it was sad that most of today's youths were involved in social vices as a result of economic hardship in the country and therefore urged them to be self-employed instead of looking for white collar jobs.
She said the country was so bad that government could not meet the expectations and aspirations of Nigerian youths, adding that only the youths who are creative would excel in their chosen careers.
'It is not your credentials, but your potentials, that will take you to the top and give you the needed value addition. It also exposes you to the secret of top achievers, so, you must eliminate fears and embrace courage because no ambition is too tough to accomplish. All you need is to believe in yourself and learn form your mistakes', the Julius Berger PRO stated.
Also speaking at the seminar, Professor Temi Busar, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, UNILAG, advised the youths not to rely on government. She said the Nigerian youths need to be creative and hard working in order to achieve their aims in life.
'I want to advise the Nigerian youths not to rely on government, but believe in themselves. Don't sell what you have to those who will not appreciate it,' she advised.
