As the race for council chairmanship and other posts draws closer, the former chairman, Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Alhaji Mufutau Kadiku's house was, over the weekend, burgled by people suspected to be political opponents, who were not favourably disposed to him while he served as the council boss.
According to eye witnesses' reports, 'the thugs, suspected to be sponsored by political rivals, stormed the residence of the former council boss with cutlasses, clubs, guns and other dangerous weapons, and shot sporadically into the air, while property worth millions of naira, belonging to the former council boss, was vandilised.'
Speaking with P.M.News, Kadiku said 'I went to attend a meeting with the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, and before my arrival, the deed had been done.'
P.M.News gathered that Kadiku was marked for elimination because of his high political profile. So, when it was rumoured that he might have been favoured by party leaders to re-contest for a second, it did not go down well with other rival groups. Hence, the sudden attack. The matter has, however, been reported at the Area A Police Command, Lagos Island.
