Speaking with P.M.News at her shop, Mrs. Appiah, also an ogogoro seller, revealed that the woman who sold the deadly drink to the victims was very popular among other sellers as her shop was always filled with customers, hence the plot to bring her down, and that somebody must have gone behind her to perpetrate the dastardly act.

Appiah claimed that she and her colleagues have been dealing in ogogoro for a long time now and such a case had never been recored, saying, it was a plot to put the woman out of business.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, had disclosed recently that 22 residents of Ajah-Ilaje, mostly Ghanaians, had been confirmed dead after taking the local gin otherwise known as Esiama in Ghanaian language, adding that eight major brewers of the local stuff had been arrested and their shops sealed.
