Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Alhaji Yussuf Haruna, on Wednesday, paid an official visit to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (Special Fraud Unit), Milverton Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, where he addressed about 53 senior police officers at the conference hall of the Sunday Adewusi Hall and was stupefied about the level of physical transformation that had taken place since 1999 when he left Lagos for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Commenting on Mr Olayinka Balogun's performance, he said 'you have changed the physical structures and equally changed the mental perception of some police officers under your command. This clearly shows that the man in charge of affairs here is not a selfish man.
'We have it on record that a lot who had been given such opportunity to serve had converted public property for their selfish ends. I hereby encourage you to be more transparent, accountable, honest, dedicated and live above material possession.'
On the issue of the demotion of the former EFCC boss, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, and 139 other officers across the country, Haruna was rather evasive, saying 'I am a police officer with only nine operational bases of the force. So, I have never promoted any officer and I have not demoted any. Direct your questions to my boss in Abuja.'
