The two warring factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Oshodi, Lagos, have been reconciled by some stalwarts of Action Congress (AC) in the state, who urged them to maintain peace and work for their members' common goal.
The two warring factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Oshodi, Lagos, have been reconciled by some stalwarts of Action Congress (AC) in the state, who urged them to maintain peace and work for their members' common goal.
The factions are that of Alhaji (Chief) Musiliu Akinsaya, a.k.a. Oluomo, and another led by Chief Kunle Adeola, a.k.a. Kunle Fighter.
P.M.News gathered that until that day, the two NURTW leaders did not see face to face, as they were believed to have been at loggerheads with one another in the quest to control the park at Oshodi.
P.M.News gathered further that the rivalry deepened with the advent of party politics. While the Oluomo-led faction opted for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a minority party in the state, Kunle Adeola and thousands of his followers pitched their tent with the ruling party in Lagos, Action Congress (AC).
On 27 July, 2008, however, a peace initiative was mooted by AC party leaders headed by one Alhaji Farounbi, a.k.a. Adado, and the peace meeting, which took place at his Oshodi residence, was fixed for the day of his child's naming ceremony.
P.M.News gathered that the two leaders were kept in the dark of the arrangement until the day when they were called out to embrace one another at the reconciliation, which was said to have been initiated by the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
