Former Executive Secretary of Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Muyiwa Adedeji, has tasked the Federal Government over the reduction of revenue allocation to local governments in the country.
Speaking at a grassroots meeting of the local government, Adedeji said the government's action is unfair because local governments are closer to the people and understand their needs better.
The former council boss stated that rather than reduce the allocation, the Federal Government should increase the funding capacity of local governments. He used the opportunity to seek re-election, while highlighting his achievements in office.
According to him, several roads were rehabilitated and constructed as well as maintained, drainages cleared, culverts constructed, free malaria drugs provided, while motorcycles and grinding machines, among other items, were given out to residents as part of his poverty alleviation programme.
